East Harlem is home to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and the Dance of the Giglio, an East Harlem tradition which has been taking place since the early 1900's. The Dance coincides with the Feast of San Antonio which runs for several days in July. It is always a major event when the Giglio Boys carry the nearly half ton statue around the neighborhood. Hundreds of folks travel from all over the East Coast to participate in the festivities.
THIS YEARS GIGLIO FESTIVAL IS AUGUST 7TH - 10TH!!!
COME JOIN US FOR ALL THE FUN!
But before the large statue is hoisted, a smaller scale version is carried around the neighborhood, always making a stop at Orbit during the afternoon.
Orbit customers also have a front row seat for the NYC Marathon as thousands of people run and walk their way to the finish line.
